CASA 2012 Finale!

CASA 2012 went out with a spirited finale.  We closed CASA Olympics with team skits and a poster contest before heading outside for a camp-wide water balloon fight.  Prizes were awarded for all the awesome teamwork and competitive spirit that made Session 4’s Olympic activities a highlight of the summer.  We dried off on the green while enjoying a tasty pizza picnic.

All of the teachers at CASA had an amazing time with your kids this summer. They were a fabulous bunch, and working with them was a source of infinite energy and fascination. CASA is a place where kids and teachers alike get to have fun and express themselves every day.  The kids don’t realize how much they are learning, but over the course of camp we see them develop a sense of self that they wouldn’t be able to find in the classroom.  In an environment where creativity and experimentation are always encouraged, the kids discover what they like to do and what kind of person they want to be. Camp is a formative experience, even trans-formative for the campers who uncovered a new passion this summer. Thank you for all for bringing your kids to CASA 2012—we hope to see you next year!

Lost and Found

There are many things pining for their owners in CASA’s lost-and-found. Wet-shirts, baseball gloves, books, and so many lunchboxes–we would hate to see this stuff disappear forever, but it will have to be donated  if it is still unclaimed at the end of August.

Decade Day!

Today was our last wacky Theme Wednesday, Decade Day, and CASA was full of flower children, go-go girls, teeny boppers, and 80s flair.  Theme Wednesdays are a CASA tradition that makes camp more fun all day long.

Reminders for the last few days of CASA

We have a few reminders for the final days of our Creative Arts Summer Adventure for 2012.

  • Tomorrow’s theme is Decade Day! We are so excited to see your flappers, hippies, disco gals, and moon-walkers!
  • Friday is our Mini Arts Festival at 12pm.
  • We will dismiss the campers on 1pm on Friday. There will be no CASA P.M., so please plan accordingly.
  • Please remember to check the lost and found for items your child may have left at camp.

We are looking forward to a fun last few days with the Creative Little Kids and Young Creators!

CASA TV

The Young Creators in CASA TV act as producers of the CASA YouTube channel, creating original programming every session.  In Session II, the kids all worked together to research, write, and film a playful documentary about the culture and geography of China.  This documentary features fashion, food, and a ribbon dance inspired by traditional Chinese acrobatics. Session III’s CASA TV class tackled a wider range of content with news, interviews, commercials, Olympic coverage, and a cooking show! All summer, the kids in CASA video classes have been amazing me with the incredible projects they complete in just one session.  Enjoy watching these two great videos from CASA TV!
