Welcome to the next chapter in the CASA story: CASA at Sheridan Mountain Campus! A place where campers take their creativity, curiosity, and courage to new heights. Set on Sheridan’s 130-acre Mountain Campus in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Luray, VA, our overnight program combines CASA’s joyful spirit with Sheridan’s tradition of outdoor challenge, reflection, and community.
Our Philosophy
For decades, Sheridan’s Mountain Campus has invited students to step outside their comfort zones and discover new levels of confidence and character in nature. Through this long-standing program, campers learn self-reliance, resilience, and collaboration as they take on both physical and emotional challenges, all while surrounded by stunning natural beauty.
CASA at Mountain Campus builds on that foundation, blending creative exploration and outdoor adventure in a supportive, inclusive overnight setting. Campers unplug, connect, and grow through both creativity and courage.
Arts & Adventures
Each day is designed to balance artistic expression, outdoor adventures, and meaningful connection.
Adventure: High and low ropes courses, a giant swing, zip line, hiking, climbing, swimming, and rafting.
- Creative Expression: Tie-dye, storytelling, theater games, and nature-inspired art.
- CASA Classics: Lego builds, slime lab, treasure hunts, and egg drops.
- Cool-Off Time: Journaling, friendship bracelets, card games, and more.
Evenings bring campfires, talent shows, star hikes, and CASA-style joy under the night sky.

CASA Mountain Campus features seven yurts nestled in a small village, five for campers and two for staff. Each yurt includes ten beds, though we typically house six campers per yurt to ensure comfort and space.
We create yurt assignments with care, using camper and family preferences shared during registration. Housing is not determined solely by gender, and families indicate their preference for same- or mixed-gender overnight groupings.
Restroom Facilities
Rustic pit toilets are located near the yurt village and dining hall.
- A central gathering space for CASA campers, the dining hall is enclosed and air-conditioned, offering a comfortable place for meals, activities, and downtime.
- Our inclusive dining services provide three balanced meals each day, along with nutritious snacks and, of course, s’mores by the fire. We accommodate most dietary restrictions and collect that information during registration to ensure every camper’s needs are met.

CASA at Mountain Campus builds on the creativity and joyful learning of CASA in DC, but offers a deeper, more immersive experience rooted in nature, community, and adventure. While CASA in DC provides engaging day programs, Mountain Campus invites campers to fully unplug, live in rustic yurts, and develop independence through a true sleepaway camp environment. Surrounded by 130 acres of forests, trails, and outdoor challenge elements, campers strengthen their sense of belonging, build meaningful relationships, and explore their interests with greater depth and focus. This extended time together allows campers to grow in confidence, creativity, and connection in ways that are uniquely possible at Mountain Campus.
No screens, just connection, creativity, and the great outdoors.
Yes! Campers may request friends to be in their overnight groups during registration, and we do our best to honor those requests. Activity groups are interest-based, so friends can also sign up for the same classes. Many activities occur in half-camp or whole-camp groups, meaning campers will have plenty of opportunities to spend time together throughout their camp experience.
